OpenAI Confirms Tuesday Launch Amid GPT-6 Sol and Luna Speculation
OpenAI product lead Tibo Sottiaux confirmed a major release for Tuesday, fueling speculation that lightweight GPT-6 Sol and Luna models will debut ahead of DevDay 2026. While the company has not officially disclosed the specifics, industry chatter suggests these models will address current usage limit frustrations by offering cheaper, faster alternatives to the heavy GPT-6 Astra. The release is expected to precede the September 29 developer conference in San Francisco, potentially clearing the way for other announcements. Hardware updates, including the Jony Ive collaboration, remain unlikely for this date, as those are still targeted for 2027.
