Lawsuit claims Texas abortion ban contributed to pregnant woman’s death
The family of Tierra Walker, 37, who died in December 2024 after seeking emergency care for pre‑eclampsia at 20 weeks pregnant, filed a San Antonio lawsuit accusing Texas officials and the University Health system of killing her by enforcing the state’s abortion ban; the suit contends doctors denied a legally permissible termination during a medical emergency, naming Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Texas Medical Board, UT Health San Antonio, and several treating doctors as defendants.
