US Approves F-16s for Ukraine, Boosting Defense in Conflict with Russia
The US has committed to approving the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine once training is complete. Denmark and the Netherlands are leading the program to train Ukrainian pilots on the American jets, with other countries also potentially providing F-16s. The US recently approved the transfer of instructional materials from Denmark to Ukraine, a critical step before pilot training can begin. Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured Denmark and the Netherlands of the Biden administration's full support for the transfer. However, Ukraine does not expect to receive the F-16s until next year.
