Villa Vie Odyssey Halts Global Voyage in Cambodia as Fuel Costs Triple
Villa Vie Residences suspended operations of its residential cruise ship, the Villa Vie Odyssey, while docked in Cambodia. The company cited a sharp rise in fuel costs, which increased monthly per-cabin expenses from an average of $1,800 to between $6,000 and $8,000 in parts of Asia. Unable to pass these costs to residents, the company is coordinating disembarkation and seeking temporary housing for passengers. Villa Vie is now pursuing restructuring and recapitalization within a 60-day window, with no guaranteed outcome. The Odyssey, which began its planned three-and-a-half-year global circumnavigation in late 2024, had previously sold over 85% of its 509 cabins for prices ranging from $119,999 to $439,999.
