Mariners' Trent Thornton sidelined with torn Achilles
Seattle Mariners reliever Trent Thornton was placed on the 15-day injured list after suffering a torn Achilles tendon, ending his season. Jackson Kowar was called up to replace him on the roster. Thornton, who had been performing well this season, was injured during a game against the Texas Rangers, and this marks his second IL stint this year. Kowar, returning from Triple-A and recovering from Tommy John surgery, will now contribute to the Mariners' bullpen.
