Triton High School Senior Dies in Fiery Wrong-Way Crash on Route 1
A high school senior from Triton Regional High School died early Sunday morning after his vehicle traveled the wrong way on Route 1 in Revere, resulting in a fatal head-on collision. Massachusetts State Police responded to multiple 911 calls around 3:23 a.m. regarding a southbound driver in the northbound lanes. The wrong-way vehicle struck another car just south of Sargent Street and was found engulfed in flames. The juvenile driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a Boston hospital. All lanes of Route 1 remained closed until approximately 8:15 a.m. as emergency crews extinguished the fire. The victim’s identity has not been released due to his age, but school officials confirmed he was a senior known for being kind and caring. The crash remains under investigation by the State Police Detective Unit and the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office.
