Exxon Banned from Transporting Offshore Oil in California
Exxon Mobil has been barred from using trucks to transport crude oil from its offshore platforms in California. The company's Santa Ynez Unit has been shut down since 2015 due to a pipeline rupture and subsequent oil spill. Exxon Mobil estimated that it would take five more years to repair or replace the pipeline. US District Judge Dolly M. Gee denied the company's request to overturn the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors' decision to reject the trucking plan. The judge ruled that while Exxon Mobil has the right to operate its offshore platforms, it does not have the right to truck the crude.
