Soul singer Sky Whatley faces simple battery charge for onstage slap in Tucker
Soul singer Sky Whatley has been charged with simple battery after allegedly slapping audience member Shamika Boyd during a performance at the Legendary Awards Show & Concert in Tucker, Georgia, on September 6. The incident, captured on video, resulted in Boyd suffering two black eyes and damage to a composite tooth. Although a warrant was issued earlier this week, police have not yet arrested Whatley, who is expected to turn himself in. Boyd’s attorney is pursuing civil compensation for medical costs and lost income, criticizing law enforcement for the delayed response to the assault.
