Israel's Underground Hospital Prepares for Hezbollah Attack, Overwhelmed by Patients in Hamas Conflict
Israel's Rambam Health Care Campus, the world's largest underground hospital, has prepared to move its operations underground to a fortified bomb shelter in anticipation of a possible second front opening up with Hezbollah on the border with Lebanon. As Israeli forces continue to battle Hamas in Gaza, concerns are rising about the possibility of attacks on Israel coming from its northern border. The hospital has already received patients from the conflict in southern Israel and is preparing for potential casualties from a Hezbollah onslaught. The underground hospital, which took years to construct, has the capacity to treat thousands of patients and can be self-sufficient for up to three days in the event of a chemical or biological attack.
