Saylor Hayes Case: Parents Arrested in Tennessee, Extradition to SC Planned
The parents of 5-year-old Saylor Hayes were arrested in Carter County, Tennessee on charges of unlawfully placing a child at risk and willfully abandoning a child, and will be extradited to Georgetown County, South Carolina after Saylor’s body was recovered near Hagley Landing following a multi-agency search. Authorities say the investigation linked the death to the circumstances of her disappearance; Sheriff Weaver stressed the arrests are based on evidence and that the defendants are presumed innocent as the case proceeds.
