A 93-year-old woman in Lavallette, New Jersey, accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake while parking a 2014 Buick Encore. The vehicle accelerated into the outdoor dining area of Meg's Grill on September 19, killing a 56-year-old woman and injuring seven others. The driver sustained minor injuries, and the restaurant closed for two days to mourn the victims.
