"General Probes Alcohol Consumption Threatening National Security at Key Commands"
Gen. Glen VanHerck, commander of NORAD and U.S. Northern Command, has launched an internal investigation into allegations of alcohol consumption in the workplace. The investigation was initiated after a recent media inquiry, and a small number of beer and liquor containers were found in a secure workspace. VanHerck stated that alcohol is not completely prohibited in workspaces but must be consumed according to approval processes. The investigation will also consider whether alcohol was consumed during work hours or missions. VanHerck believes there is no culture problem or impact on readiness related to alcohol but looks forward to the investigation's findings.
