Tech Giants Unite to Challenge Nvidia's AI Dominance
A coalition of tech companies, including Qualcomm, Google, and Intel, is aiming to challenge Nvidia's dominance in AI by targeting the software that ties developers to Nvidia chips. The UXL Foundation plans to develop open-source software and tools, starting with Intel's OneAPI, to power multiple types of AI accelerator chips and create an open ecosystem for machine learning frameworks. This effort is part of a growing movement to loosen Nvidia's grip on AI, with over $4 billion invested in 93 separate initiatives aimed at challenging the company's dominance.
