Chicago's Air Quality Improves, But Still Unhealthy
Chicago's air quality has improved and is no longer the worst among big cities globally, now ranking third behind Dubai and Detroit. However, the air is still rated as "very unhealthy," prompting residents, especially the vulnerable population, to take precautions. People are advised to avoid outdoor activities that could increase heart rate, and those with respiratory illnesses should stay indoors. Chicago Public Schools have moved summer programs indoors to reduce the risk to students and staff. The poor air quality is attributed to smoke from Canadian forest fires, but conditions are expected to improve throughout the week.
