Violet Hay found safe in Oregon City after 12-hour search; suspect Vince Chavez arrested
Ten-year-old Violet Hay was found safe in an Oregon City home on Wednesday afternoon, more than 12 hours after she was abducted from her Canby apartment. Police arrested suspect Vince Edgar Chavez, who attempted to flee during the raid. Hay was found tied up in a closet and taken to a hospital for treatment. Her 12-year-old sister, who was assaulted with a hammer during the break-in, remains hospitalized. The suspect’s roommate claimed he was unaware of the crime and was showering when police breached the property.
