Walter Lauridsen, Rob Sand's brother-in-law, dies in Lucas County crash
Walter E. Lauridsen II, 42, died after being struck by an SUV in Lucas County on Thursday night. Lauridsen, a Des Moines philanthropist and co-founder of Harvest Academy, is the brother-in-law of Iowa Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand. The crash occurred when Lauridsen walked into the westbound lane of Highway 34 while an eastbound vehicle passed his parked car. No other injuries were reported.
