Delaware Hunter Charged with Manslaughter After Fatal Shooting of Woman Mistaken for Deer
Walter Moorhead, 74, was charged with manslaughter after fatally shooting Santos Maria Chilel Soto, 39, in Ellendale, Delaware, on September 18, 2026. Police say Moorhead mistook Soto for a deer while hunting from a ground blind. Soto was walking with a man and two children when she was struck. Moorhead was released on a $43,000 bond.
