On April 12, 2026, SFPD officers detained Amanda Tom (25) and Muhamad Tarik Hussein (23) after a reported shooting near Taylor Street in Russian Hill; a search of their residence yielded three firearms. Investigators from the Special Investigation Division booked Tom and Hussein for negligent discharge (246.3 PC). The incident remains an open investigation, and the public is asked to provide information via TIP411.
California law enforcement arrested 17 people, mostly members of the local Sikh community, in connection with a series of shootings in Gurdwaras and seized weapons such as AK-47s, handguns, and at least one machine gun in a series of raids carried out over 20 places. The arrested members are part of rival criminal syndicates who are alleged to be responsible for numerous violent crimes and shootings, including five attempted murders, in several counties. Two of the people arrested are mafia members who are "wanted on a number of murders" in India. During the investigation, law enforcement was able to prevent two additional shootings from occurring.
