Discord deploys universal end-to-end encryption for voice and video calls

Discord has enabled default end-to-end encryption for all voice and video calls across desktop, mobile, web, and consoles, extending the DAVE protocol with WebRTC transforms and MLS to minimize latency and secure calls. Stage channels are excluded from encryption, and there’s no opt-in. Text messaging remains unencrypted under this rollout, with Firefox-related compatibility issues resolved during testing.

"Critical Security Updates Released for Safari and iOS Devices"

Apple has released a standalone update for Safari, its web browser, to address security vulnerabilities in older versions of macOS. The update, Safari 17.4.1, fixes an exploit in WebRTC that allowed arbitrary code execution when processing images. This update is available for Macs running macOS Monterey and macOS Ventura, which cannot be updated to the latest macOS Sonoma. What's new in Mozilla Firefox 113: Faster browsing, Picture-in-Picture mode, and more.

Mozilla Firefox 113 is now available for download, featuring improved support for AVIF images, a more secure built-in password generator, enhanced Picture-in-Picture mode, and a redesigned accessibility engine. It also brings support for hardware-accelerated AV1 video decoding and GPU-accelerated Canvas2D by default on Android devices, as well as several improvements for web developers. The release removes long-deprecated types and improves importing of bookmarks from Chrome-based browsers. The stable release will be announced on May 9th, 2023.
