Uber Debuts International Robotaxi Service in Abu Dhabi with WeRide
Uber has launched its first international robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in partnership with WeRide. This service allows customers to book autonomous vehicles through the Uber app, with fares comparable to UberX and Uber Comfort. Initially, the vehicles will have safety drivers, with plans for fully driverless rides by 2025. WeRide, a Chinese startup, holds permits for driverless operations in several countries and has been testing its vehicles in Abu Dhabi since July 2023. Uber aims to integrate various autonomous vehicle operators into its platform globally.
