Leavitt steps down as White House press secretary to focus on family
Karoline Leavitt, 28, the youngest White House press secretary, will depart at the end of August after returning from maternity leave for her second child. Trump said she will become a top outside advisor, as Leavitt noted she cannot devote the constant time the role requires to being a mom. She previously served in Trump’s administration, led his 2024 campaign communications, ran unsuccessfully for New Hampshire’s 2nd District in 2022, and no successor has been announced.
