WHO Meteorologist Jason Parkin Discloses Parkinson's Diagnosis, Launches Fundraising Effort
Jason Parkin, a meteorologist for WHO in Des Moines, has publicly disclosed his diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, a progressive neurological disorder. Although he initially kept the diagnosis private to avoid public scrutiny regarding his on-air performance, Parkin decided to share his story after attending a conference in June. He is now actively raising funds for the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) through his team, 'The Cumulonimbros,' which has raised 63% of its $7,500 goal. Parkin aims to use his platform to support research and help others, noting that while the disease is challenging, he remains optimistic about managing it through medication and exercise.
