Alaska distress call tests Zuckerberg’s mega‑yacht Launchpad
Off Alaska, a 21‑foot skiff ran out of fuel and was reportedly rescued by the tour boat Wilderness Legacy after the Coast Guard issued an assistance call; Zuckerberg’s 387‑foot mega‑yacht Launchpad was closer but did not respond to the radio distress, prompting viral commentary from passengers. The Coast Guard later said the skiff was not distress and the rescue was already underway on another channel, while Zuckerberg’s spokesperson noted neither he nor his family were aboard Launchpad. The episode revived discussion of maritime rescue duties under SOLAS and drew attention on Bluesky.
