D.J. Lagway, a five-star quarterback from Willis, Texas, has been named the 2023 MaxPreps National High School Football Player of the Year. Lagway led his team to a 12-1 season, breaking the Class 6A single-season state record with 58 touchdown passes. He completed 72.1% of his attempts and also contributed 975 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. Lagway is committed to playing college football at Florida and is the seventh player from Texas to win this prestigious award.
