Unions at Woodside Energy Group's North West Shelf offshore gas platforms have notified the company of their plans to strike as early as September 2, escalating a dispute over pay and conditions. The strike threat could potentially disrupt shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Australia, the world's top exporter. The Offshore Alliance, representing workers at Woodside and Chevron's facilities, has unanimously endorsed the strike notice if their bargaining claims are not met by Wednesday. Woodside workers have granted unions permission for industrial action, and workers at Chevron's facilities are also voting on strike action. Woodside and Chevron's facilities together supply about 10% of the global LNG market.
