Microsoft’s selective buyouts signal AI and data center roles as core priorities

Microsoft is offering voluntary buyouts to approximately 60,000 employees, representing 27% of its global workforce, to manage costs amid massive AI infrastructure investments. The program, available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and India, targets staff at the vice president level and below. Employees must decide by early December, with departures effective December 31.
