Vaquer Wins WWE Women’s World Title in Chile, Sparking Debate Over Referee Finish
Stephanie Vaquer captured the WWE Women’s World Championship at the September 12 live event in Santiago, Chile, defeating Liv Morgan with Becky Lynch serving as special guest referee. The finish paused Morgan’s pin and allowed Vaquer to hit her finisher, ending Morgan’s 148-day reign and giving Vaquer a second title reign. The moment drew some praise but provoked significant backlash from fans who argued the title change belonged on a televised program and criticized Lynch’s involvement and the house-show setting, signaling a divided reception of WWE’s booking.
