Ex-Waterbury Official Ordered 16 Drinks Before Hit-and-Run That Injured Teen: Warrant
John Egan, the former chair of the Waterbury Zoning Commission, has been charged with evading responsibility causing serious physical injury or death and failure to yield while turning left after allegedly hitting a 17-year-old on a motorscooter and then driving off. According to an arrest warrant, Egan ordered 16 alcoholic drinks the day of the incident. He resigned from the zoning commission and was also a golf coach at Holy Cross High School. The victim, Bryan Calle, remains in critical condition with a brain bleed and multiple skull fractures. Egan's attorney had no comment.
