Zoom's AI investment fails to prevent stock slide.
Zoom Communications' stock fell more than 6% after reporting its quarterly earnings, despite touting its investments in artificial intelligence (AI) on the conference call. The company's CEO and CFO outlined potential use cases of generative AI, including Zoom IQ for Sales, which analyzes sales techniques on calls to decipher which might be most effective. However, investors seemed to focus more on the company's Enterprise division, which showed lower-than-expected growth. The initial hype around buying anything with AI in the name has faded, and companies still have to convince investors they can grow profits and justify their valuations.
