General Motors and Ford have announced that certain vehicle models will no longer be eligible for electric vehicle tax credits in the U.S. starting from January 1, 2024. General Motors' Cadillac Lyriq and Chevrolet Blazer, as well as Ford's E-Transit, Mach-E, and Lincoln Aviator Grand Touring plug-in hybrid, will be temporarily impacted. However, Ford's F-150 EV Lighting and Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring will still be eligible for tax credits. The temporary loss of tax credits is due to minor components in the vehicles, and GM expects eligibility to return in early 2024. The Biden administration's guidance limiting Chinese components in batteries played a role in this decision.
