NYC Sues Hyundai and Kia for Easy Car Theft

New York City has filed a lawsuit against Hyundai and Kia's US subsidiaries, alleging that their cars are too easy to steal due to the lack of modern security controls, creating a public nuisance. The lawsuit claims that thieves using tools no more advanced than a USB cable can drive off in the motors within seconds. The issue affects a bunch of models produced for the States between 2011 and 2022. The complaint also alleges that Hyundai and Kia have chosen to sacrifice public safety for profits, as their vehicles sold in the European and Canadian markets incorporate vehicle immobilizers.
