"State AGs Demand National Recall of High-Theft Hyundai and Kia Vehicles Amid TikTok Challenge Thefts"

A group of 17 state attorneys general and the District of Columbia have called for a national recall of certain Hyundai and Kia vehicles due to a lack of basic security features that have led to a "safety crisis" on US roads. The vehicles can be easily hotwired, leading to a growing number of thefts, accidents, and fatalities. Federal regulators estimate that 3.8 million Hyundais and 4.5 million Kias are affected. The attorneys general have urged the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to order a mandatory recall or ensure a voluntary recall is instituted.
