Google Halts Construction of San Jose Mega-Campus Amid Economic Uncertainty

Google has paused construction on its "Downtown West" campus in San Jose, which was set to turn 80 acres of downtown San Jose into 7.3 million square feet of offices, 4,000 housing units, 50,000 square feet of retail and cultural space, and 15 acres of parks. While Google has not denied the report, a spokesperson stated that the company is assessing how to best move forward with the project and is committed to San Jose for the long term. The San Jose Mayor downplayed the report, stating that Google remains fully committed to the project.
