Boeing's 737 MAX Deliveries Delayed by Quality Glitch

Boeing will have to perform rework on about 50 undelivered 737 MAX airplanes due to mis-drilled holes on some fuselages discovered by its supplier Spirit AeroSystems, potentially delaying some near-term deliveries. While safety is unaffected and existing 737s can continue operating safely, the quality glitch comes after a recent door plug blowout on a 737 MAX 9. The U.S. regulator has ordered Boeing to cap 737 production at the current rate of 38 jets a month for an undefined period while it addresses quality lapses, deferring the increases in production needed to meet rising demand for new jets.
