The Origins and Impact of 4/20: A Comprehensive Look.
TL;DR
4/20, the annual celebration of marijuana culture, has its origins with a group of high school friends in California who called themselves "the Waldos." The term "420" spread through their association with the Grateful Dead, and the date has become a holiday for cannabis fans. While recreational marijuana is now legal in 21 states and the nation's capital, progress at the federal level has been slow. Activists are calling on President Biden to remove cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act and undo the harm caused by the drug war.
