Chevron Explores Israel's Strategic Position for LNG Export to Europe and Asia

Chevron, the American energy giant, is eyeing Israel as a springboard to Europe due to the abundance of natural gas in the region. With the Leviathan gas field, Israel has more gas than it can consume or transport through its limited pipeline network. Chevron exports significant volumes to Egypt, which converts the fuel to liquefied natural gas (LNG) and sends it to European ports. Expanding production at Leviathan and streamlining pipelines could potentially double exports, meeting the needs of countries like the Netherlands. Chevron's increased activity in the East Med region has raised expectations of it becoming a major petroleum hub, although challenges remain in terms of regional cooperation and the transition to cleaner energy sources in Europe.
