Federal Government Invests Billions to Modernize Power Grid and Reduce Outages

The Biden administration has committed $3.5 billion to fund 58 projects aimed at strengthening the resilience of the power grid in the face of extreme weather events and natural disasters. This investment, combined with private funding, could result in up to $8 billion being invested nationally to upgrade the grid. The projects will focus on improving energy reliability and affordability, deploying innovative approaches to transmission, storage, and distribution, and spurring the development of renewable energy sources. The goal is to meet the administration's target of achieving 100% clean electricity by 2035.
