Chemical giants to pay $1.2B settlement over 'forever chemical' water contamination lawsuits.

Chemical companies Chemours, DuPont, and Corteva have agreed to pay over $1 billion to settle claims that "forever chemicals" contaminated public US water systems. The chemicals, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), are found in everyday products and can cause serious health problems. The settlement fund will be contributed by Chemours (50%), DuPont (about $400 million), and Corteva (about $193 million). The companies are facing thousands of lawsuits from across the country alleging the toxic chemicals were utilized in manufacturing and then polluted the environment.
