SpaceX Aims for a $1 Trillion Revenue Run Rate by 2030—Is the Math Sound?

SpaceX is targeting about $1 trillion in annual revenue by 2030, up from roughly $18.7B in the prior year, a leap that would require compounding revenue well over 100% annually for five years. Elon Musk has framed this around massive AI data-center investments funded by a war chest from its IPO (roughly $100B) and aided by Starlink. The company also cites existing AI contracts (around $26B per year with Alphabet and Anthropic) and a growing Starlink segment (billions in quarterly revenue). However, achieving $1T hinges on avoiding bottlenecks in power, chip supply, and construction, and profitability remains uncertain if much of the revenue comes from reselling AI compute. Even if SpaceX hits high growth, it may not be the first to cross $1T in revenue—Amazon could reach that level with relatively modest growth over the next few years. The timeline may thus extend beyond 2030, with substantial execution risk still in play.
