Several eye drops have been recalled due to contamination risks, including a drug-resistant bacteria strain linked to at least one death. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has warned people to stop using two brands of eye drops. However, eye drops are generally safe to use, and people should review recall notices and see a doctor if they have symptoms of an eye infection. To safely apply eye drops, people should use their own bottle, make sure it has not expired, and avoid pressing the bottle tip into the inner corner of the eye.
