FDA approves first vaccine for RSV in older adults.

The FDA has approved GSK's Arexvy vaccine, the first RSV vaccine, to protect older adults against a virus that leads to thousands of hospitalizations and deaths in seniors. The vaccine has shown an efficacy of 82.6% against RSV-related lower respiratory tract disease. The FDA will require GSK to conduct a study after the shot's rollout to assess the signals of serious risks for two rare side effects that might be linked to the vaccine. Other drugmakers, including Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Sanofi, are also pursuing RSV vaccines and antibody drugs.
