New KRAS-Targeting Drug Extends Pancreatic Cancer Survival, FDA Approves Breakthrough Therapy

The FDA has approved daraxonrasib (Rasonque) from Revolution Medicines to treat pancreatic cancer, after a phase 3 trial where patients on the daily pill had a median survival of 13.2 months versus 6.6 months on chemotherapy. The drug targets the mutated KRAS gene, present in more than 90% of pancreatic tumors, potentially altering a historically hard-to-treat cancer. About 67,000 Americans are diagnosed each year, with more than half dying within three months of diagnosis. The FDA granted Breakthrough Therapy designation in 2025.
