"Promising Results: Melanoma Vaccine Boosts Survival and Reduces Recurrence Risk, Moderna and Merck Lead the Way"

A new study has shown that a melanoma vaccine, when combined with Merck's cancer drug Keytruda, can significantly improve survival rates for people with advanced melanomas. Patients who received the vaccine plus Keytruda were 49% less likely to die or have their cancer return after three years compared to those who only received Keytruda. The findings are based on an ongoing randomized trial involving 157 patients with high-risk stage 3/4 melanoma. The vaccine-drug combination has already entered Phase 3 trials and has been designated as a breakthrough therapy by the FDA. Melanoma is responsible for most skin cancer deaths, and this new treatment offers hope for improved outcomes.
