Amazon and Cleveland Clinic Expand Nationwide Virtual Health Clinic Strategy

Amazon is expanding its virtual health clinic service, called Amazon Clinic, nationwide, allowing users in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., to connect with healthcare providers through video visits. The platform, which partners with telemedicine companies like Curai Health and Hello Alpha, enables users to receive treatment for common conditions and prescriptions for medications. While message-based chat is available in 32 states, insurance is not yet accepted for payment. Amazon has made previous attempts to enter the healthcare industry, including launching an online pharmacy and a telehealth service, as well as acquiring healthcare provider OneMedical.
