U.S. Names First Drugs for Medicare Price Penalty.

The US government has named the first drugs that will face a penalty under a new Medicare program that aims to lower drug prices. The program will penalize drug manufacturers whose prices rise faster than inflation. The drugs facing the penalty include insulin products made by Novo Nordisk, Eli Lilly, and Sanofi, as well as the rheumatoid arthritis drug Humira made by AbbVie. The penalty will result in a 10% reduction in payments to the drug manufacturers by Medicare.
