Rising Worker Militancy: Buffalo-area GM Workers Vote on Contract, Inspiring Others

United Auto Workers (UAW) members at General Motors (GM) plants in Buffalo are voting this week on the union's tentative deal with the automaker. The deal includes a $300 million investment in the Tonawanda engine plant for electric vehicle production. UAW members at Ford plants are also voting on a tentative deal, with Ford pledging an $80 million investment in the Hamburg plant for electric vehicle parts. The UAW contracts with GM and Ford, if ratified, would run through April 2028.
