St. Louis files lawsuit against Hyundai and Kia for surge in car thefts.

St. Louis is joining several other cities in a lawsuit against Kia and Hyundai over car thefts, claiming that the automakers' refusal to install anti-theft technology has led to an uptick in stolen cars across the nation. The city is asking for accountability from the automakers as well as for them to pay damages in excess of $75,000, attorneys' fees, punitive damages, and such other and further relief that the court deems proper. Kia and Hyundai have responded by stating that they have taken measures to address the issue, including providing free security software upgrades and steering wheel locks.
