"Pennsylvania Counties Offer Affordable Homeownership Opportunities"

Rising home prices in the first quarter of 2022 have pushed up the income needed to afford a home to its highest level since 2007, with major homeownership expenses requiring about 33 percent of a family's monthly income. A report from ATTOM shows that prospective buyers needed to earn at least $75,000 annually to afford a median-priced home in about half of the nation's housing markets. The highest wage requirements were found in markets along the East and West coasts, while three Pennsylvania counties ranked among the lowest income needed to own a home in the U.S.
