Target's Controversial 10-Item Limit for Self-Checkout Sparks Outrage

Target is reportedly testing a 10-item limit for self checkout registers as part of a trial to better understand customer preferences and reduce wait times. Customers with more than 10 items will be directed to a full-service lane with a cashier. The testing is currently being conducted at a small number of locations. Target aims to improve the front-end experience and has seen an increase in the usage of full-service lanes. The company's revenue for the first three quarters of the year has decreased compared to the previous year, but net earnings have increased. Target CEO Brian Cornell stated that the company is making investments to provide newness, affordability, and convenience to customers during the holiday season and beyond.
