"Enhanced Privacy: Messenger Implements Default End-to-End Encryption"

Meta is finally rolling out end-to-end encryption as the default setting for one-on-one chats and calls on Messenger, fulfilling a long-awaited promise. Encrypted chats were previously available as an opt-in feature, but now they will be the standard. While group chats and Instagram messages are not yet encrypted by default, Meta plans to implement encryption for these features in the future. The move towards default encryption means that Meta will not be able to access the contents of Messenger chats or provide them to law enforcement.
